Dental Follow-up

Dental Impressions

 

After your first visit, the dentist schedules a follow-up appointment to take dental impressions. These impressions are used to make your custom dental appliance.

Appliance Insertion

About a week after the impressions are taken, you will need to return to RANA to have your dental appliance inserted. During this return visit, the dentist ensures the appliance is comfortable. You will also learn you how to adjust the appliance and clean it properly.

Dental Exams and Adjustments

After the dentist inserts your dental appliance, you will need to visit us several times during the first few months for dental exams and adjustments to make sure your appliance fits properly.

Annual Visits

Once your dental appliance is properly positioned and the dentist is satisfied with the treatment outcome, an annual visit is recommended to ensure your therapy remains effective and to evaluate the condition of your appliance. The dentist also records your sleepiness and quality of life scores and may repeat an at-home sleep study to assess the effectiveness of the appliance. As with all of RANA’s sleep patients, the dentist establishes a life-long relationship with you.
