Our Commitment To Your Privacy

RANA-Medical has always been committed to providing you superior service, while protecting your privacy and personal information. It is our policy to never give, rent, or sell any information that individually identifies a client to any person or organization without the client’s consent. We have adopted privacy principles and policies, based on the Canadian Standards Association’s Model Code for the Protection of Personal Information, and Canada’s federal privacy legislation, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).


Your Personal Information

We hold personal information on our clients in order to facilitate and maintain the highest levels of patient care and customer service, and as required by law. This can include the following types of information:

  • Identification: Your name, address, contact numbers, health identification numbers, height, weight, date of birth, and employment information.
  • Medical information: Referrals, prescriptions, symptoms, diagnoses, test results, opinions, directions or comments from the health professionals involved in your care, medical conditions, medical history and compliance information.
  • Transaction History and Preferences: The type of products and services you use or prefer.
  • Financial Information: If you ask to open a credit account or want us to interact with a third party payer or insurance company on your behalf, we may collect banking information, income, credit card numbers and employment information.


Why We Collect Your Information

We only collect personal information for the following purposes:

  • To identify you individually
  • To protect your health by providing you the most appropriate care and advice
  • To interact with other health care professionals and provide continuity of care
  • To interact with federal or provincial health agencies and departments to fulfill public health reporting, billing requirements and contractual agreements we may have with them
  • To provide additional services or information which may be of interest or assistance to you
  • To meet professional, legal and regulatory requirement
  • To verify your credit-worthiness and process payment


10 Privacy Principles
  1. Accountability: We have designated a Privacy officer who oversees and is accountable for our compliance with our privacy policies.
  2. Identifying Purposes: We will identify, either before or at the time of collection, the purposes for which personal information will be collected, used or disclosed.
  3. Consent: We require your informed consent for the collection, use and disclosure of personal information
  4. Limiting Collection: We only collect information for the purposes we have identified to you.

  9. Individual Access: You have the right to access your personal information that we may have on file, be informed as to it’s use and disclosure, and challenge it’s accuracy or completeness.
  10. Challenging Compliance: You are entitled to question our compliance with any of these principles.


Consent

Consent may be obtained in a variety of ways. Often, we will be asking for your express, written or verbal consent before or at the time we collect, use or disclose your personal information. However, in most cases, by requesting products, services or consultation from us, you are implying your consent for us to collect, use, or disclose your personal information for these purposes.

Of course, giving your consent and providing us with your personal information is always your choice.
